Kakunodate (Akita)

Kakunodate, an old castle town located in Akita prefecture, is known both for historic samurai mansions and cherry-blossoms which line on streets.
Town layout has remained essentially unchanged in more than 390 years, therefore Kakunodate is called 'the Little Kyoto'.

Mansion of Ishiguro Family, with the thatched roof of the main house and the black fence with its spyholes.
It's the oldest among the existing samurai mansions.
