Kenroku-en Garden (Ishikawa)

Kenroku-en Garden, located in Kanazawa-shi, Ishikawa pref. is one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan.

Kotoji Stone Lantern on Kashumigaike Pond is emblematic of Kenroku-en Garden.

Kenroku-en, a strolling-style landscape garden, was founded and extended over generations by the feudal lords of Kaga.

Karasaki Pine Trees are supported by umbrella-like ropes to protect from breaking with heavy snow.

Neagari-no-Matsu, Raised roots Pine   This pine tree shows more than 40 big and small roots raised about 2m on the ground.

  Kenroku-en is laid out with a variety of gardening techniques from different periods.

Fountain, spurting by the natural pressure caused by the different surface level of two pond, is said to be the oldest fountain in Japan.
