Lake Mashu, caldera lake, is a mysterious lake and is called ‘The Lake of Mist’. Though there is no river flowing into or out from Lake Mashu, the water level remains the same. Also, it usually has a thick layer of mist over it making it unable to see.
Lake Mashu has the clearest water in the world and its shade of indigo blue is called "Mashu blue."
Lake Kussharo is the largest caldera lake and the 6th largest lake in Japan.
